Jury selection begins in assault case

Jury selection began this morning for a Colorado City man charged with assaulting his girlfriend
John Berry Jackson, 35, is charged with third degree felony assault, family violence, for a Nov. 10 incident in Scurry County, court records state.
Trial testimony is expected to begin either this afternoon or Wednesday morning in 132nd Judicial District Court. District Attorney Ben Smith will prosecute the case, while Chris Hartman will defend Jackson.
Court documents stated that Jackson squeezed the neck of a person with whom he was in a dating relationship. 
His January indictment also stated Jackson was previously indicted for assault, family violence, in Mitchell County in 2011.
