The Snyder ISD board of trustees are expected to name Jim Kirkland the district’s superintendent on Thursday.
The vote follows the board’s naming Kirkland the district’s lone finalist for the superintendent’s post last month.
He currently serves as the district’s interim superintendent.
Trustees will also consider giving the administration authority to negotiate with ARAMARK for custodial and grounds care for the district. The company currently serves as the district’s food service provider.
The board will also vote on a request for a class size waiver for the first grade bilingual class. There are 23 students in the class, which exceeds the allowable class size by one.
Trustees will also nominate a person to serve on the Scurry County Appraisal Review Board and are expected to approve a revised appraisal review calendar.
The annual investment report will be presented for approval.
Trustees will also get updates on moving the Price Daniel Unit inmates from the list of eligible voters in the district and the consequences of how dropping this number from the voting numbers might affect board district boundaries.
Also scheduled to be updated is the building committee report on present and future building projects, a report on the performance-based monitoring system for special education and a report on the No Child Left Behind program.
The board will also receive an update on the campus and district improvement plans and a local policy update.
A public hearing will be held on the district’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) results for the 2013-14 school year. The district was rated superior, the highest rating possible. Since the program’s inception, the district has received the highest rating each year.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the administration building boardroom. It is open to the public and the agenda allows for public comment.
