The Snyder Kiwanis Club is raising money for its annual Goodfellows food drive by holding a “Penny War” between local businesses.
Jars will be placed at AimBank, Prosperity Bank, West Texas State Bank, Community Bank of Snyder, Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, Snyder Daily News, Scurry County Sheriff’s Office and the Scurry County Museum throughout November.
For each penny collected, that business earns a point. Paper currency will also be accepted and will count as positive points. A $5 bill would count as 500 points.
However, for each silver coin left in a jar, that entity will lose the corresponding number of points. For example, a quarter would represent a 25-point deduction.
The business or entity with the most points at the end will earn a pizza party.
