Less than 2 percent of Texas is currently listed in a drought, according to the latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor.
The map shows 1.38 percent of the state listed as abnormally dry, which is the lowest classifications on the chart. Only areas in Culberson, Hudspeth and El Paso counties are listed in a drought stage this week.
Three months ago, 14.36 percent of the state, including Scurry County, was listed in a drought. However, rain totals of more than 13 inches in Snyder have helped move the county out of a drought stage.
One year ago, 4.63 percent of the state was listed in a drought.
The National Weather Service is not forecasting rain in the weekend forecast. Partly cloudy skies are in the forecast with highs in the mid 90s and lows in the 70s.
A 20 percent chance of showers are in the Monday forecast, but the remainder of next week will call for partly cloudy skies.
