The annual Fourth of July Lions Club prayer breakfast will feature donuts, musical entertainment and a program by an Air Force veteran.
“The Snyder Lions Club is so excited to host this prayer breakfast once again,” Lions Club President Andra Gregory said. “We always look forward to providing this for our community and to show support for our troops.”
Retired Operations Superintendent of the 55th Rescue Squadron Master Sergeant Edwin G. Neeley will be the guest speaker at the breakfast.
A 1994 Snyder High School graduate, Neeley joined the Air Force in March 1995.
Over the course of his 23-year military career, he was deployed five times to Afghanistan as an HH-60 Helicopter Weapons Load Team Chief and twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was also deployed once to Sicily for a data-masked operation, once to Turkey in support of counter-ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) operations and once to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
Neeley has flown 1,927 hours in the HH-60G Pavehawk with 290 combat hours and 312 combat rescue missions. His major awards and decorations include Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor, Air Medal with 13 Oak Leaf Clusters, Aerial Achievement Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and Combat Action Medal.
Also during Wednesday’s breakfast, local musician Shelly Bradberry and a men’s quartet will perform hymns and a salute to the armed services. Veterans are encouraged to attend the breakfast and stand when their military branch’s song is played.
There is no admission cost, but donations will benefit Lion’s Club community service projects.
The prayer breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Towle Park Barn.
