So far this week, Scurry County health officials have reported four new local cases of COVID-19.

While no new cases were reported Friday, Thursday saw three new cases reported, while one new case was reported Wednesday.

The four new cases put Scurry County’s total at 24 cases since the pandemic began, of which two are recovered.

As of Friday afternoon, 789 total tests had been administered. 513 of those tests had returned negative results, while 252 results were still pending. Age ranges and gender of infected individuals are no longer being released to the public.

In his daily briefing Friday, County Judge Dan Hicks announced that contact tracing on those who tested positive for the disease is complete, adding that county personnel would conduct contract tracing on any future new cases as well.

However, information about the individuals’ employers or public places they have visited is not being shared with the public.

Instead, county officials shared several CDC recommendations including social distancing, wearing face coverings in public, hand washing and hand sanitizer use, and staying home if sick.

After briefly resuming them, Snyder Municipal Court once again canceled all in-person contact hearings.

“We have received new orders from the Office of Court Administration that requires a detailed operations plan if court has in-person court hearings,” the release stated. “Municipal Court will not have in-person contact hearings at this time. All court hearings have been pushed back and will be done remotely.”
