The congregation of Trinity United Methodist Church helped make orientation a little more welcoming for new faculty and staff members at Snyder ISD.
Church members donated both store-bought and homemade sweets and snacks to create goody bags for the new teachers and staff members at orientation today. The idea came primarily from Snyder Primary School Librarian Betty Potter, who is a member of the church.
“We have done quite a bit of studying and training on Christian hospitality,” Potter said. “As I looked toward the new school year, I realized we would have very many new teachers, and I wanted to have that Christian welcoming mindset.”
Potter presented the idea of making each new teacher and staff member a bag of snacks to other church members. The response was positive and immediate.
“I said, ‘Let’s do this,’ and everybody asked what they could do,” Potter said.
