Seven candidates are expected to bring their message directly to the voters Tuesday.
The seven local Republican candidates for county offices are scheduled to participate in a public forum at Martha Ann Woman’s Club. The first of two sessions will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The four candidates in the two county commissioners’ races will be on the stage together and will answer questions first.
According to county party chairman Drew Bullard, at around 7:45 the three candidates in the Sheriff’s race will take the stage.
Bullard will moderate the forum and ask the candidates questions. Although there will not be a public question and answer session, the community may email their questions to scurrycountyrepublicanparty@outlook.com in advance of the forum, and the questions will be considered for inclusion in the forum.
Bullard said not every submitted question will be asked, and similar questions may be asked as a composite. He said that the emails will be an important factor in gauging public sentiment and in helping to compile a list of questions for the event.
“The purpose of the forum is not to ask ‘got you’ questions, but to provide useful information to the public so that they can make informed decisions,” Bullard said previously.
Candidates invited to participate are incumbent Terry Williams and challenger Bob May for Scurry County Pct. 1 Commissioner incumbent Shawn McCowen and challenger Dennis Poole for Scurry County Pct. 3 Commissioner; and incumbent Trey Wilson and challengers Jeanette Pritchard and Raymond Guzman for Scurry County Sheriff.
