Local groups plan safe Halloween activities

Local groups have scheduled activities for the public during the Halloween weekend, beginning tonight.
Western Texas College’s Art Club and Phi Theta Kappa will host a haunted house from 7:30-10:30 p.m. today and Saturday in The Coliseum annex. Admission is $7 per person and WTC students will be admitted free.
Second Chance Dog Rescue will host a Howl-o-ween party for pets and families from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the Towle Park barn. Activities will include games for children and dogs, a costume contest and nail trims and ear cleanings for dog.
Also on Saturday, the Scurry County Boys and Girls Club will host Family Fall Fest from 4:30-6 p.m. First United Methodist Church, East Side Church of Christ, Heaven Bound Cowboy Church, First Baptist Church and Snyder ISD’s Afterschool Centers for Education are sponsoring the event. A “Brave Cave,” in which people will experience activities on how to trust God, will be among the activities.
The Snyder Chamber of Commerce will hold White Boo-ffalo Halloween in the Park from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Towle Park pavilion. Local groups will have booths set up featuring games and other activities.
The Snyder High School theatre department will host a spook house at the high school from 8 p.m until midnight Saturday. Admission is $5 per person.
The annual Western Texas College Fall Festival will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday at The Coliseum. A costume parade will begin at 6:15 p.m. Game booths will be set up on the floor. The cost is $12 for one wrist band, $20 for two and $35 for four. All proceeds will benefit the Scurry County United Way Lend a Hand campaign.
On Monday, 37th Street Church of Christ will host a trunk-or-treat from 6-8:30 p.m. on the church parking lot while Colonial Hill Baptist Church has scheduled a trunk-or-treat from 6-7 p.m. Monday. Four bicycles will be given away and free food will be available.
Word is Life Deliverance Church will host a block party from 6-8 p.m. Monday. Games and food will be available.
Residents at Snyder Healthcare Center will pass out candy from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Monday. From 6-8 p.m. Monday, residents at Good Life Senior Living will pass out candy.
