Managers at two retail stores in Snyder said they have alreay had many holiday shoppers for their Black Friday events.
“I appreciate all the people that came out and shopped with us and all my associates,” said Walmart store manager Avan Ceballos.
Terri Newberry, Bealls store manager who has been with the company for five years, said business has been steady since they started their Black Friday events Wednesday at 8 p.m.
“I took over this store in May of this year, before that I was at one in Abilene and I was really surprised at how busy we were for it being a small town,” Newberry said. “We had 75 to 100 people lined up in front of the store yesterday and Wednesday too.”
She said Bealls began opening on Thursday for Black Friday five years ago and this was the first year they have opened on Wednesday.
“I haven’t looked at the numbers, but I believe sales have been higher,” Newberry said Friday morning.
She said Thursday, the store hosted drawings for gift cards and a four-foot teddy bear.
Shopper Esther Clarady of Snyder, who was shopping at Bealls, she wasn’t looking for anything in specific.
“I’m just out checking to see what’s available,” said Clarady.
Newberry said Black Friday events end today at 10 p.m. and the store will begin extending its hours as it gets closer to Christmas day, including Christmas Eve.
Black Friday events at Walmart began Thursday at 6 p.m. and end today at midnight.
