Snyder police arrested a man Monday night after searching for him most of the day.
According to an eyewitness, Daniel Ray Villalon, 23, hit a police vehicle with his vehicle near Snyder Junior High and Snyder Elementary schools at about 8 a.m. Monday.
At some point, Villalon got out of the vehicle and fled on foot into a neighborhood at the intersection of Ave. X and 31st Street. Lisa Nix said the man wandered through her neighborhood, trying to get into residences and looked into her backyard.
“My children said they saw a man look into our backyard,” Nix said. “He jumped over our neighbor’s fence and tried to get into another neighbor’s house. There were about three cops who came and asked to search our house. They didn’t find him but it was still a wake-up call.”
One of the houses had a surveillance camera which was able to clearly identify the suspect. Scurry County Sheriff Trey Wilson said law enforcement was in pursuit of Villalon most of the day.
Snyder police arrested Villalon in the 700 block of 37th Street at 7:36 p.m. Monday on a 132nd District Court warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Other charges are pending.
Due to a police training program today, Snyder Chief of Police Terry Luecke was unavailable for comment.
