A Snyder man faces felony charges after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase early Friday afternoon.
Rubin Thomas DeLoera, 33, was arrested on a third-degree felony charge of evading arrest with a vehicle for his alleged role in the pursuit, which involved nine Snyder Police Department and Scurry County Sheriff’s Office units.
The chase began at 11:59 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Coliseum Drive and 37th Street when officers informed dispatchers they were in pursuit of a black Chevrolet Corvette traveling east at a high rate of speed.
The suspected vehicle then exited U.S. Hwy. 180 and began heading south on U.S. Hwy. 84 before turning around and heading north on the highway and exiting at Ennis Creek Road.
Officers eventually lost sight of the vehicle, which was traveling at speeds of more than 110 mph, near CR 146.
At 12:03 p.m., dispatchers received a call from a resident who said the Corvette was parked between two houses in the 100 block of FM 1673 and that the driver was on the resident’s porch, knocking on the door.
Law enforcement units quickly arrived and arrested DeLoera. A passenger in the Corvette was escorted to the Snyder Police Department, but was not arrested.
At one point, the caller reported seeing the vehicle told dispatchers a person had a gun, but no weapons charged were filed at the time of the arrest.
A spokesperson at the Scurry County Jail would not release bond information on DeLoera this morning.
