Man dead after 3-wheeler wreck on U.S. 180

A Glenn Heights man is dead after a wreck on U.S. 180 near Snyder Wednesday evening.

At about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Charles Surgin Gardner, 48, was driving his Polaris 3-wheeled vehicle in the rain west on U.S. 180 about 4.9 miles west of Snyder. 

According to a press release issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the vehicle hydroplaned and slid off the south side of the roadway and through a barrow ditch and fence.

Gardner, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the wreck, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The crash is under investigation by DPS personnel.
