Man dies at oilfield site; cause not known

A Levelland man died while working at an oilfield site south of Snyder Friday afternoon.

The man, whose name has not been released pending notification of family, was working at the site located two miles south of Sheppard Crossing on FM 2835 when he collapsed.

Co-workers called 911 at 4:51 p.m., saying it appeared the man had been electrocuted.

Five Scurry County EMS and Snyder Fire Department units, along with Scurry County sheriff’s deputies, responded to the scene. At 5 p.m., it was reported that the man was no longer breathing and that CPR was being administered.

The man was transported by ambulance to Cogdell Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Ricki Webb at 5:59 p.m. Webb ordered the man’s body be taken to Lubbock for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. No other details were available at press time.
