A free classical music concert featuring the founder of the Piatigorsky Foundation will be held at the Scurry County Museum on Monday.
The 6 p.m. concert featuring cellist Evan Drachman, who established the foundation, and pianist Efi Hackmey is sponsored by the museum and Scurry County Friends of the Piatigorsky Foundation. Refreshments will be available.
Drachman, in 1999, recorded his first CD, A Frog He Went a Courting, with pianist Richard Dowling. Following the success of that CD, Drachman and Dowling released two more recordings — Infinity in 2004 and Romance and Revelation in 2007.
He studied at the Peabody Conservatory and the New England Conservatory. He has spent his summers performing at music festivals in the United States and abroad.
Hackmey founded the Chiarina Chamber Players, a concert series in Washington, D.C., which he directs with cellist Caroline Bean Stute.
His recent performances have included solo recitals at Lincoln Center’s Rose Studio and the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, as well as the Chopin F minor concerto with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra in Israel.
A native of Israel, he has performed at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Jerusalem Music Center and special concerts presented by the Arthur Rubinstein International Music Society.
