Museum summer camp registration being accepted

The Scurry County Museum is now accepting summer camp registrations.
Registration will be held at the museum during operating hours, Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
Registration is also available on the museum website at www.scurrycountymuseum.com.
“We will have twice the art classes at summer camp this year, offering art fundamentals, an intensive painting week and a focus on Southwest Americana art,” Museum Educator Erika Jayne Christian said. “We will also have the paleontology week with a trip out to the dig-site at Roland Springs Ranch, a Wild West Texas week focusing on animals in the region, a science camp and a sports clinic that’s focuses on moving and wellness.”
Campers will be split up by ages: junior campers, first through third grade; campers, fourth through sixth grade; and senior campers, sixth through eighth grade.
The camps will run Monday through Friday with two sessions per day, a morning session from 9 a.m. to noon and an afternoon camp from 1-4 p.m.
Here is a look at the weekly sessions:
• June 11-15, senior campers will have an art camp (master series) in the morning.
• June 18-22, junior campers will have art camp in the morning and science camp in the afternoon. Campers will have science camp in the morning and art camp in the afternoon.
• June 25-29, junior campers will have dinosaur camp in the morning and All About Animals camp in the afternoon. Campers will have All About Animals camp in the morning and dinosaur camp in the afternoon.
• July 9-13, junior campers will have sports camp in the morning and art camp in the afternoon. Campers will have art camp in the morning and sports camp in the afternoon.
• July 16-20, senior campers will have Wild West Texas biology camp in the morning.
“This year, we will also offer a supervised time before and after camps for those parents who work from eight-to-five,” Christian said. “There will be an unstructured, supervised time available from 8-9 a.m. and 4-5 p.m.”
Registration for museum members is $60 per half-day camp or $110 for all-day camp. The fee for early drop-off and late pick-up is an additional $20.
The general registration fee is $75 per camp — morning or afternoon — or $140 for all-day camp. The general fee for early drop-off and late pick-up is $25.
Campers who attend both the morning and afternoon sessions will have a supervised lunch break from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch will not be provided.
Camp T-shirts will be available for purchase for $11. 
Volunteers are also needed to help with the camps, and the museum offers credit for community service hours.
