Body

Character. Scholarship. Leadership. Service.
Nearly 40 new members of Snyder High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) pledged to uphold these four qualities during their time in school and beyond during the group’s induction ceremony Sunday afternoon.
The induction, held in Worsham Auditorium, started with a ceremony during which NHS President Meera Bhakta, Vice President Jesi Hunter, Secretary Evelyn Kerr, Treasurer Jordyn Stewart and Historian Caitlyn Crane lit candles as they explained the importance of each of the four values and their integration in society.
Next, the 38 inductees were called one by one to sign their names in the group’s membership book and light a candle of their own before lining up in front of the stage’s apron to be recognized by the audience.
This year’s inductees included seniors Tegan Dickson, Alfredo Hernandez, Randy Hernandez, Macie Palacios, Antonio Rangel, Stephanie Rios and Chloe Rodriguez; juniors Bobby Boen, Trinity Castillo, Jaxson Collier, Zaily Edwards, Christian Escobedo, Alexandra Garza-Grimaldo, Connie Hermosillo, Hayley Humphrey, Alyssa Hurt, David Martinez, Yessenia Ruiz, Aurora Savedra and Alondra Tovar; and sophomores Zairah Cabrera, Katie DeLoera, Alexia Estrada, Caira Galvan, Baylee Green, Danielle Greer, Maverick Hernandez, Sidni Hunter, Brandy Jones, Grayson Keele, Mary Kerr, Taryn Nobles, Avery Schiffner, Hunter Stewart, Amilee Thomas, Travis Thompson, Jeremiah Valenzuela and Jaden West. Sophomore Joanie Burns was not present at the ceremony and will be inducted at a later date.
After new members were inducted, the group’s senior students — both those who were just inducted and current members — each received a white stole embroidered with the National Honor Society emblem. The parents of each senior were called upon to bestow the stoles and then had their photos taken with their students.
Seniors receiving stoles included Meera Bhakta, Kendra Bynum, Caitlyn Crane, Erin Crane, Madelynn Cravens, Tegan Dickson, Mercedes Gutierrez, Alfredo Hernandez, Randy Hernandez, Jesi Hunter, Kade Hunter, Natalee James, Bonnie Jasper, Evelyn Kerr, Kate McWilliams, Adriana Murillo, Katelynn Olivarez, Macie Palacios, Antonio Rangel, Abigail Reyes, Stephanie Rios, Makayla Robbins, Chloe Rodriguez, Alexia Ruiz, Jordyn Stewart and Whitney Tubbs.
Snyder High School Principal Janell Martin gave closing remarks.
“Congratulations to each of you new inductees and you graduating seniors,” Martin said. “But most of all, congratulations to the parents, families and friends that are here to support these young individuals who are beginning a career, a success and future accolades that we strive to achieve here at Snyder High School.”
