Law enforcement in Nolan County has released the name of the Maryneal man killed on Saturday.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said in a statement that the person killed was 59-year-old Lonnie Odell Sturdivant.
According to the DPS, Sturdivant was shot and killed in Maryneal. The suspect, who has not been identified, fled the scene in a vehicle.
A DPS trooper located the vehicle south of Sweetwater and a high-speed chase ensued.
The pursuit ended at the intersection of I-20 and Hwy. 70.
“During the arrest, the subject was shot and is in critical condition at a local hospital,” a press release from the DPS stated.
Texas Rangers, the Sweetwater Police Department and the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office are working together in the investigation.
