Patterson reports drop in average drilling rigs

Patterson-UTI Energy, Inc., average operating rigs dropped in December, according to figures released by the company.
In December 2015, Patterson had an average of 82 drilling rigs operating in the U.S. and one in Canada. In November, the company had an average of 89 drilling rigs operating in the U.S. and three in Canada.
In December 2014, Patterson had an average of 208 drilling rigs operating in the U.S. and eight in Canada.
During the fourth quarter of 2015, Patterson had an average of 88 drilling rigs operating in the U.S. and three in Canada. That is down from the 2014 fourth quarter total of 208 drilling rigs operating in the U.S. and eight in Canada.
