Patterson reports increase in drilling rigs operating in U.S.

For the second straight month, Patterson-UTI Energy, Inc., reported an increase in its average operating rigs in the United States.
In August, the company reported it had an average of 60 drilling rigs operating in the U.S. and two in Canada. In July, Patterson had an average of 56 rigs operating in the U.S. and two in Canada.
One year ago, the company reported an average of 106 rigs operating in the U.S. and four in Canada.
For the first two months of the third quarter, Patterson averaged 58 rigs operating in the U.S. and two in Canada. That is down from an average of 109 rigs in the U.S. over the same time period in 2015 and four in Canada.
Average drilling rigs operating represent the average number of the company’s drilling rigs that were operating under a drilling contract.
