Pianist to perform free concert at museum on Feb. 5

The Scurry County Museum will host a free concert featuring pianist Victor Santiago Asuncion. 

The performance is part of the Piatigorsky Foundation’s concert series.  The foundation is dedicated to bringing live classical music to communities throughout the United States. During the 2016-17 concert season, touring artists performed 218 concerts in 141 cities. This season, an estimated 210 concerts will take place in 21 states.

Asuncion has performed in Japan, Mexico, Canada, the Philippines and the United States, playing at famous venues, including Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall and the Lincoln Center. As an orchestral piano and harpsichord soloist, he has collaborated with many prominent conductors and classical musicians.

Asuncion’s performances have been broadcast on National Public Radio’s Performance Today, as well as other television and radio stations in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Japan and the Philippines. His recordings can be heard on the Hartt and ERM labels, as well as DEUX, the independent label he founded in 1996.

His most recent performances include chamber and solo recital appearances in New York, Seattle, California, Wisconsin, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Asuncion’s performance will begin at 6 p.m. Feb. 5 at the museum and is free to the public.
