Plans for next month’s White Buffalo Days celebration in downtown Snyder are starting to take shape.
Snyder Chamber of Commerce Events Coordinator Josh Ortegon said entertainment for the Oct. 5-6 event will include local dance groups.
On Oct. 6, the Deep Creek Cloggers will perform at 10:30 a.m. in the gazebo area of the Scurry County Courthouse. At 11 a.m., dancers with Studio 92 will be featured in the gazebo area. On 26th Street beginning at noon, Cheers R Us will perform.
“We are working on finalizing other entertainment and musical acts,” Ortegon said.
One act that will be returning to Snyder again this year are the Aztec Dancers. Ortegon said the dancers will perform twice on Friday and two times on Saturday. Times will be finalized later this week when the musical acts are confirmed.
Booths are scheduled to open around the square at 5 p.m. Oct. 5 and 9 a.m. Oct. 6. Non-food booth space is still available.
The United Supermarket Pumpkin Patch is also returning this year. It will be located on the northeast courthouse parking lot and will open at the same time as booths, Ortegon said.
Two new events will be available this year.
The 1818 Arthouse will screen print T-shirts on site Saturday and the public will be able to learn how the process works, including making a shirt.
The public may watch T-shirts being made, but will have to purchase a shirt in order to make one.
The Scurry County Museum will host a .05K race. The race will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the 1818 Arthouse and end one-half block away at Uncle A’s Barbecue.
The registration fee is $15 for the race or $30 for the VIP treatment and no racing, museum officials said.
The VIP treatment will include a massage in the medical tent.
At the halfway point of the race, which will be the Ritz Community Theatre, museum staff members will serve donuts.
Each participant will receive a race bib, medal and car decal. All proceeds will benefit the Museum.
