New activities are being planned for the annual White Buffalo Days, which will be held Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in downtown Snyder.

“I think it’s going to be bigger than last year just because there is so much going on in town that weekend with the bike rally and White Buffalo Days,” said Snyder Chamber of Commerce Events Coordinator Josh Ortegon said. “That is also homecoming weekend. There’s going to be a lot of people home for that.”
I just think it’s going to bring a lot of people out, and especially new people from the bike rally are going to come and see what Snyder is all about on the downtown square.”
The weekend events will begin at 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday,.
Lagniappe Productions will perform six 15-minute Tumble Weed Crossing shows — two on Sept. 30 and four on Oct. 1.
Ortegon said last year the group performed the same skit every time, but this year they will perform three different skits.
“They’re the  same company that produced the comedic gun fight show at Six Flags,” Ortegon said. “They’re hilarious. We had them last year and they were a big hit.”
Local band Apparition Tradition, which plays 1950s and 1960s music, with lead singer and guitarist Marcus Rios, will also perform both days. Drummer Hollie Gonzales will is as backup singer and Josh Gonzales plays bass and guitar.
Ortegon said the Science Spectrum of Lubbock Super Cold shows, featuring freezing and exploding liquid nitrogen, will be part of Saturday’s entertainment.
The 1818 Art House will host an OctoberFest with German-style beer tasting and College on the Square will host an art project contest, which will include making a paper mache buffalo.
Ryan Grinnell with CrossFit Snyder will give a live demonstration on Saturday.
Booths are still available with prices ranging from $75 to $340. There is a $10 discount for renting early and the deadline is Sept. 26.
Arts and crafts vendors need to have a temporary tax permit prior to the event and food vendors need to acquire a temporary food permit 10 days before the event.
Vendor booths may be reserved by calling the chamber office.
The first Snyder Bike Rally will hold a lighted parade on Friday.
The parade will begin at the rodeo grounds on Gary Brewer Road and will make its way to the downtown area before returning the rodeo grounds, where the rally is scheduled to be held that weekend.
Historic Scurry County, Inc., will participate in White Buffalo Days at the historic 1912 jail, located at 2705 College Ave, from 1-3 p.m. Saturday.
Children’s games at the jail will include a cow patty toss, horse shoes, tire races, stick horse races and a bean bag toss.
The group will also be selling cookies, popcorn, and drinks and promoting its jail restoration fundraiser.
The White Buffalo Quilt Guild will have a quilt show and country store, which benefits the Scurry County Senior Citizens Center, in the former West Texas State Bank building.
The White Buffalo Stampede, organized by Western Texas College, will begin with the color fun run at 8 a.m. followed by the 5K at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The fee is $20 for early registration and $25 after Sept. 23.
Registration forms for the White Buffalo Stampede are available at the chamber office.
