Purple Sage reports increase in taxable receipts

The Purple Sage Motel and Hampton Inn were the only Snyder hotels that reported an increase in taxable receipts during the second quarter of 2016, according to figures compiled by the Texas Comptroller’s office.
Overall, the taxable receipts among the 13 hotel/motels were down $415,860 compared to the second quarter of 2015 and down $153,923 compared to 2016’s first quarter. During the second quarter, Snyder had $1,287,205 in taxable hotel/motel receipts for the 632 rooms available. The 2015 second quarter total was $1,703,065 for 646 rooms.
During the first quarter of 2016, total taxable receipts were $1,133,282 for 565 rooms.
During the second quarter of 2016, Comfort Inn, located on U.S. Hwy. 84, opened, which increased the room count from 565 in the first quarter to 632 in the second quarter.
During the second quarter, Comfort Inn had taxable receipts of $192,105.
Purple Sage reported total taxable receipts of $124,476 during the quarter, up from $113,027 in the second quarter last year.
Hampton Inn Snyder, which opened during the second quarter of 2015, had a total of $265,404 in taxable receipts this year. During its two months of business in the second quarter of 2015, the hotel had taxable receipts of $158,468.
Holiday Inn Express reported taxable receipts of $251,916 this year, down from $528,733 a year ago, while Baymont Inn and Suites had taxable receipts of $141,760, down from $332,763 over the same time period in 2015.
The City of Snyder budgeted $575,000 in hotel/motel taxable receipts during the 2015-16 budget year, which ends on Sept. 30.
For the 2016-17 budget cycle, the city budgeted $375,000 in hotel/motel taxable revenue.
