The Snyder Elementary School Trash Busters, Snyder Recycling Center and the City of Snyder are sponsoring a recycled Christmas tree ornament contest for local students.
The ornaments will be displayed on a Christmas tree in  Heritage Village.
“The purpose of this contest is to educate the students about the 3 ‘Rs’ (reduce, reuse and recycle) by actively engaging them in a creative way of reducing and reusing everyday household waste,” said Trash Busters sponsor Carolyn Torres. “Our goal as the sponsor of this event is to involve as many students and their families as possible in order to create a greater awareness of recycling and waste reduction.”
Ornaments must be created by using recycled materials and fit in a quart-size storage bag. Each ornament may be submitted from 4-6 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Heritage Village.
Prizes will be awarded for the top three ornaments at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 10 during the Ye Ole Village Lighting ceremony.
