According to figures released by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar, retail sales in Snyder slowed in November — compared to both October 2019 as well as November 2018.
The City of Snyder will receive $223,514 in sales tax revenue this month, a decrease of 17.55 percent compared to last year. Last January, the city received $271,105 from the state.
In December the city received $299,316.
Scurry County will receive $186,147 in sales tax revenue this month, a 3.5 percent increase over last January. In January 2018 the county received $179,844 back from the state.
In December the county received $241,811.
Several other cities in the region received lower allocations in January, indicating retail sales were slowing, although both Abilene and Lubbock saw year-over-year increases.
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced this week that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $763.8 million in local sales tax allocations for January, 4 percent more than in January 2019.
These allocations are based on sales made in November by businesses that report tax monthly.
