Scurry County Appraisal District (SCAD) directors will consider minor changes to the Scurry County tax roll when they meet Tuesday morning.
The appraisal roll changes may reflect a change in property valuation, but more often are administrative changes, Chief Appraiser Jackie Martin said.
“Usually, they’re things like adding late homestead exemptions or changes in address,” Martin said. “They are things that do not increase the taxpayer’s liability.”
The board also is scheduled to meet in closed session to confer with the district’s attorney regarding pending litigation filed against SCAD and Kinder Morgan by Scurry County, Snyder ISD, Western Texas College and the Scurry County Hospital District. Any action resulting from those discussions will be taken when the board reconvenes in open session.
In other business, the board will consider the district’s 2018 audit report, leasing the parking lot, the 2019-20 biennial reappraisal plan amendments to personnel policy and the emergency response plan, renewal of the district’s contract with TXU, appointment of an auxiliary member to the Appraisal Review Board, the monthly financial report and bills payable.
Informational items include Martin’s monthly report, appraisal value update for 2018 and 2019, and a legislative update.
Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the SCAD office, 2612 College Ave. It is open to the public and time has been set aside for public comment on non-agenda items.
