The Scurry County Museum hosted a concert Monday evening featuring musicians from the Piatigorsky Foundation.
Cellist Evan Drachman and pianist Chelsea Wang have traveled all over the world performing for those who might not otherwise have access to a performance like Monday’s. More than 100 Snyder residents attended the concert.
Evan Drachman is the grandson of the famous Russian cellist Gregor Piatigorsky.
He founded the Piatigorsky Foundation as a way to bring classical music to underserved audiences in 1990. This season, the foundation plans to bring more than 210 concerts all over the United States.
Monday night’s concert was an hour-long performance featuring three pieces of music — Elegie for Cello and Piano by Gabriel Faure, Sonata in A Major for Cello and Piano by Cesar Franck, which has four movements and lasts around 30 minutes, and Apres un reve by Gabriel Faure and arranged by Roy Howat.
Drachman gave the history of each of the concert’s pieces before he and pianist Wang performed them.
