The second annual Aim True pre-season tune-up archery event will be held Saturday at the Towle Park Natural Trail at the intersection of Houston Ave. and 45th Street.
Contestants in various age groups will compete for prizes in 3-D target shooting, long distance shooting and an event called the William Tell Apple Shot.
Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for students. Proceeds will benefit the Scurry County 4-H archery team.
Organizer Chuck Barbee said that awards will be given to first-through-third-place finishers  in all divisions and classes. Classes range from children in grades three-five to adult males and females. Divisions are bare bow, recurve bow, comp aided and comp unaided.
The 3-D course will include 30 lifelike targets of animals, while the long-distance shoot will involve hitting a target up to 100 feet away. In the William Tell event, archers will attempt to shoot an apple off the head of a target, Barbee said.
Drawings will be held for a 3-D target, recurved bow, deer feeder, tripod or pop-up stand and more, he said.
A silent auction is scheduled and door prizes will be awarded.
Barbee said the pubic is invited to watch the event, but must sign a release before being allowed on the course. Also, the Nature Trail will be closed to the public from 4 p.m. today until the event is finished Saturday afternoon.
