Senior citizens may get help with taxes on Thursday

Scurry County senior citizens may receive assistance in filling out their 2015 federal income tax returns this year.
Representatives from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) will be at the Scurry County Senior Citizens Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 10 and April 7 to offer assistance.
Citizens are asked to bring their 2014 tax return and all 2015 tax documents. The documents may include Social Security statement, all W-2 or 1099s, 1095 health insurance form, Social Security cards for each person listed on the tax return, the bank routing and account number for direct deposit, all receipts if the filer plans to itemize the return, 1098T college expense form, childcare expenses, property taxes, medical expenses and charitable gifts.
Representatives will also be available in Fisher, Mitchell and Nolan counties.
AARP representatives will be at the Fisher County Courthouse in Roby on Feb. 23 and have scheduled assistance at the Mitchell County Public Library on Feb. 25, March 22 and April 12. The Sweetwater Senior Citizens Center will be the site for assistance in Nolan County on Tuesday, March 8 and April 5.
Representatives will be available at each location from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
