Seven people sentenced to probation by Armstrong

Seven people received probated sentences after entering guilty pleas before Judge Ernie B. Armstrong in 132nd District Court Thursday.

Davin Keith Manlief, 29, of Snyder, pleaded guilty to the second degree felony charge of burglary of a habitation. His 10-year prison sentence was probated for 10 years and he was fined $1,500 and ordered to pay $943 in court costs and attorney fees and participate in a drug treatment program.

Manlief was charged with stealing a shotgun from his victim on Sept. 26, court records stated.

Joy Latoya King, 42, of Hobbs, N.M., pleaded guilty to the second degree felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. Armstrong deferred final judgment on her case and placed her on five years probation and fined her $1,500. In addition, she was ordered to pay $180 in restitution, $1,013 in court costs and attorney fees and required to participate in a drug treatment program.

Court records stated King was in possession tetrahydrocannabinol in the amount of four grams or more, but less than 400 grams, on April 7.

Craig Allen Lawson, 56, of Elk Grove, Calif., pleaded guilty to the second degree felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. His 10-year prison sentence was probated for 10 years. He was also fined $1,500 and ordered to pay $180 in restitution, $1,013 in court costs and attorney fees and participate in a drug treatment program.

Lawson was found in possession of four grams or more, but less than 200 grams, of methamphetamine on Dec. 14, 2016, court records stated.

Sandra Ann Rowe, 54, of Snyder, pleaded guilty to the third degree felony charge of forgery. Her 10-year prison sentence was probated for 10 years and she was fined $1,500 and ordered to pay $99 in restitution, $953 in court costs and attorney fees and required to participate in a drug treatment program.

Court records showed she forged a check from her victim at Walmart on June 14.

Jakob Sanchez, 37, of Snyder, pleaded guilty to failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, a third degree felony. His eight-year prison sentence was probated for eight years. He was also ordered to pay a $1,500 fune, $353 in court costs and to participate in a drug treatment program.

Sanchez had been charged with failing to notify the Scurry County Sheriff’s Office of a change of address, as required by sex offender statutes, on May 15, court records stated.

Fabian Torres, 39, of Snyder, pleaded guilty to the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance. Armstrong deferred final judgement and placed Torres on probation for three years. In addition, he was fined $1,500, ordered to pay $180 in restitution, $413 in court costs and to participate in a drug treatment program.

On April 14, 2016, Torres was found in possession of less than one gram of cocaine, according to court records.

Muhammad Masud, 29, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., pleaded guilty to the second degree felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. Final judgement on his case was deferred and he was placed on five years probation, fined $1,500, ordered to pay $180 in restitution and $413 in court costs and to participate in a drug treatment program.

Masud had been indicted, according to court records, for possession of tetrahydrocannabinol in the amount of more than four grams, but less than 400 grams, on March 21.
