Several races remain open for May 7 elections

With two weeks remaining in the filing period for the May 7 elections, several races are still open.
No one has filed for the Scurry County Hospital District election, which may have three seats on the ballot. This year’s election is for the Pct. 2, Pct. 4 and one at-large seat on the board. Filing is being held in the administration wing of Cogdell Memorial Hospital.
Two seats on the Snyder City Council remain open at this time. No one has filed for the District 1 or District 3 seats.
Two incumbents have filed to run for re-election. They are District 2 representative Steve Rich and District 3 representative Thomas Strayhorn. Candidates may file at Snyder City Hall.
Two incumbents have filed for re-election in the Western Texas College board of trustees election. Tim Riggan is seeking re-election in Place 3 while Dr. Jay Kidd is running for the Place 4 seat. Filing is being held in the president’s office in Palmer Hall.
Incumbent at-large Snyder ISD board of trustees members Jim Drake and Ron Hester have filed for re-election. Filing is being held at the school district’s administration office.
The filing deadline is Feb. 19 for each of the government entities.
