The City of Snyder received a call at 7:30 a.m. today in reference to a sewer line backing up at Towle Park, causing a strong odor.
Snyder Public Works Director Eli Torres said the line blockage was caused primarily by a build-up of grease.
The line will be replaced as part of the city’s water line replacement plan.
The blockage is still being cleared and the amount of sewage that flowed into the creek bed is undetermined at this time.
“There were restrictions in terms of the size of the pipe, so we are putting in a bigger line,” Torres said. “It should be done within the next six months, hopefully by the end of the year.”
