Six of seven Snyder ISD board members have met the state’s continuing education requirements.

As required by the Texas Association of School Boards, Snyder ISD board president Ralph Ramon reported on trustees’ continuing education 2017 records during Thursday night’s meeting.

Ramon said he, Brad Hinton, Doug Neff, Carrie Richardson, Ronnie Anderson and Lauren Collier had exceeded the required number of hours.

Trustee Steven Pena was deficient in his hours.

Ramon attended 25 hours of continuing education since Jan. 1 with Hinton attending 14 hours, Neff 18.75, Richardson 16.50, Anderson 21.75 and Collier 12.75.

Pena, who was appointed to the board on Aug. 3, has zero hours of continuing education and has not completed Texas Open Meeting training, which is required within 90 days of being appointed. Additionally, he has not completed the local district orientation, required within 60 days of appointment.

All board members, including Pena, attended a team-building session on Aug. 12.

Ramon said he would work with Pena to get him up to date on the requirements.
