Snyder announces top graduates of 2020 class

Snyder ISD has named its top students for the 2019-2020 school year.

Kendra Tyann Bynum has been named Snyder High School’s valedictorian and Meera Bhupendra Bhakta has been named salutatorian.

Bynum is the daughter of Julie and Jason Bynum. She participated in track and field during her ninth, 10th and 11th grade years and played volleyball all four years of high school, earning all-district first team honors the last two seasons. 

She was also a volleyball TGCA All-Star. 

She was involved in FFA her ninth and  10th grade years and served as Snyder’s FFA Chapter Treasurer in 10th grade. Bynum also participated in choir as a freshman and held a seat on the student council her freshman and sophomore years. 

She has been a member of FCA/FCS for four years and a member of the National Honor Society since she was a sophomore. 

She was in the Top 10 and Top 10 percent of students throughout her high school career, and made academic all-district and all-state for two years as an upperclassman. 

She plans to attend Texas Tech University.

Bhakta is the daughter of Radha and Bhupendra Bhakta. 

She participated in tennis for four seasons of high school and was in choir and on the debate and speech teams as a freshman. 

She was a STREAM bus founder and placed first in the Texas Midwest   Community Network competition as a senior. 

She participated in UIL science and history her junior and senior years, and also competed in UIL mathematics as a senior. She held a seat on the student council throughout her high school career and was a member of the National Honor Society since she was a sophomore, serving as president her senior year. She was in the Top 10 and Top 10 percent of students all four years. Her senior year she also became a WTC graduate.

Bhakta plans to attend Texas Tech Univeristy.
