Snyder graduate named chairman of state board

Jason Cooper, the son of Deana and Charles Cooper of Snyder, was appointed chairman of the Texas Physician Assistant Board by Gov. Greg Abbott.
Cooper is currently serving as the director of special medical programs for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He was as an assistant professor and director of clinical education with the School of Health Professions.
Cooper has been a physician assistant in emergency departments and primary care.
He is a member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the National Association of EMTs.
Cooper is a licensed paramedic and holds several emergency medical service certifications.
Cooper, a 1990 graduate of Snyder High School, graduated with a master of science degree in physician assistant studies from the Texas Tech University Health Science Center.
He is also an Eagle Scout and remains active as a Cub Scout leader with Boy Scouts of America.
