A parade, the crowning of royalty and, of course, football will highlight Snyder High School homecoming activities this week.
High school students will mark homecoming week with dress-up days, but activities will hit high gear at 7 p.m. Thursday when the annual homecoming parade is held in the vicinity of Towle Park and the high school campus.
The parade will begin at Moffett Field and proceed east on Towle Park Road before turning north on Denison Ave., east on 42nd Street, north on Austin Ave. and west on 38th Street before stopping at Tiger Gym. The gym parking lot will be roped off and high school officials are asking parade viewers to park elsewhere.
Following the parade, the 2019 homecoming king will be crowned in the gym. The king candidates are Trey DeLoera, Cory Landin, Seth McGrew, Jayden Samaniego and Greg Williams.
On Friday, festivities begin with the homecoming pep rally at 12:15 p.m. Friday in Tiger Gym.
The Snyder High School Band Boosters will host an enchilada casserole dinner at 5 p.m. Friday in the high school cafeteria. The meal will include beans, rice, chips and salsa, sopapilla cheesecake and tea. Tickets are $10. Call 207-4791 to purchase tickets.
Activities will then shift to Tiger Stadium, where Snyder will host Andrews in the annual homecoming game. Prior to the kickoff, Snyder High School Athletic Hall of Honor 2019 inductees will be honored. They are the 1985 state champion volleyball team, track athlete Gail Read (class of 1963) and football players Reginald Scarborough (class of 1961) and Dick Hayes (class of 1960).
At halftime of the football game, the homecoming queen will be crowned. The candidates are Nataly Aparicio, Madelynn Cravens, Tegan Dickson, Bonnie Jasper and Kate McWilliams.
