Snyder High School sets homecoming events

Snyder High School is welcoming alumni and the public to next week’s homecoming festivities.

The week will begin with dress up days for high school students. Monday is character day. Tuesday is twin day. Wednesday is superhero day. Thursday is decade day. Friday is extreme black and gold day. 

Also on Wednesday, the Power for Life Team will perform for students at 9 a.m. The program will include a strength demonstration and a message about hanging on to hopes and dreams. That evening, Snyder High School will host an open house for parents and students from 5-6:30 p.m. 

On Friday, Snyder ISD students will be released from school at 11:55 a.m.

A parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. on the Moffett Field parking lot. The route will follow Towle Park Road to Denison Ave. From there, it will run north to 42nd Street, east to Austin Ave. then north to 38th Street.

Following the parade, a pep rally will be held at 2 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. During the pep rally, the homecoming king will be announced.

The Lady Tigers volleyball team will play Sweetwater in Tiger Gym at 4:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door for $2 for adults and $1 for students.

Before the football game, the Pride of the West Marching Band will serve a meal in the high school cafeteria from 5-7 p.m. Meal tickets will be available at the door for $12. The menu is enchilada casserole, beans, rice, salad, chips, salsa and sopapillas.

During pregame events at Tiger Stadium, Snyder and Sweetwater high schools will present a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in honor of local citizens who have received their wishes. The two campuses will participate in a penny war fundraiser throughout the week to support the cause.

Snyder will play Sweetwater at 7:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the athletic office for $5 by noon Friday or for $6 at the gate.

During halftime, the homecoming queen will be announced.
