Snyder ISD continues to adapt to online teaching

Snyder school trustees will receive an update on how at-home learning is going for the district’s students.

Board members will also hold a public hearing on, and possibly adopt, an English/Language Arts and Reading curriculum for the 2020-2021 school year. 

Board members will also hear updates about the at-home learning platform, including participation rates, teacher communications, grading and current outcomes; COVID-19 grading guidelines; and opportunities for learning during the summer months.

The board will hear a report on instructional resources for the 2020-21 school year, which will be presented for final approval at the May board meeting.

Trustees will also hear a report on the plans for a Snyder High School Career and Technical Education/Pathways to Technology Makerspace, which the agenda states, “is to provide our current and future programs with the needed equipment to provide state of the art training facilities for our students.”

Superintendent Dr. Eddie Bland will give a report including a comparison of April enrollment in the district.

Trustees are also expected to approve tax deeds on two trust properties; extend probationary contract offers to certified personnel for the 2020-2021 school year (subject to background checks); offering 1-year term and probationary contracts to current school district personnel as recommended; offer a two-year contract to Audie Shaye Murphy as Snyder High School Principal; granting Bland the authority to extend probationary or term contract offers to employees through Aug. 31; and approve a resolution grant Bland authority to submit waivers to the Texas Education Agency and other waivers in accordance with guidance from national, state or local authorities or agencies.
