A Louisiana man living in Snyder was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation agents Friday on child pornography possession charges.

A spokesperson for the FBI confirmed that Samuel Lynn Johnson, 20, of Alexandria, La., was arrested in Snyder Friday. The spokesperson also provided the criminal complaint against Johnson, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

“From in or about July 2018 to in or about January 2019, in the Lubbock Division of the Northern District of Texas, and elsewhere, Samuel Lynn Johnson, defendant, did knowingly possess material which contained at least one image of child pornography…that involved a prepubescent minor and a minor who had not attained 12 years of age…” the complaint alleges.

An affidavit dated May 15 and filed along with the complaint by FBI Special Agent Keith Quigley of Lubbock alleges that two images depicting “…a prepubescent female, believed to be between 6-10 years old…” with exposed genitalia and who was performing sexual acts were discovered on a Tumblr account associated with Johnson’s email address. On May 14, Quigley and Snyder Police detective Lea Tarter interviewed Johnson, who admitted using the Tumblr account to “…actively view, search and save child pornography…” while living in Snyder. A spokesperson for the Snyder Police Department declined to comment on the case. The affidavit also reported that Johnson admitted to fondling a seven-year-old girl while lying in bed with her during the summer of 2019. The complaint and affidavit led to the court issuing an arrest warrant for Johnson, who is currently confined in the Lubbock County Detention Center awaiting a hearing today.
