Next Wednesday marks the beginning of a new direction in local news.
The first edition of The Snyder News will be published six days from today, March 11.
Future editions will be published each Wednesday and Saturday.
The Snyder News will be a twice weekly version of the Snyder Daily News, which will publish its last daily edition this weekend.
“We’ve been so encouraged by the positive feedback we’ve been receiving about the change,” publisher Bill Crist said. “Our readers have always told us they wanted more local news. By focusing on local news a couple days a week, and dropping national and international news that we used to fill our pages daily, we’ll be able to bring them the product they want and deserve.”
Current print and online subscribers will have their subscriptions extended to compensate for the schedule change, Crist said, although the new rates are already being offered to customers as renewals come due.
Crist said the newspaper’s website will continue to provide breaking news through social media and that some staples, like obituaries, will be updated daily online.
“Change isn’t easy, and this is a big one,” Crist said. “But as we’ve always known, what happens in our hometown is important and the community’s newspaper staff should focus its time and energy on their hometown. This change will allow us to do that.”
