Snyder Rotary Club to deliver Thanksgiving meals

Families and individuals still have time to register for a home-delivered Thanksgiving meal.

The Snyder Rotary Club will have its annual Thanksgiving Day meal, but due to COVID-19, volunteers will only deliver meals rather than also hosting in-person dining.

“We were trying to figure out, with the COVID thing, how to do this,” Rotary Club spokesman Geron Scates said. “The College has agreed to allow us to use the dining room (to prepare delivery meals). What we decided to do was we just wouldn’t have anybody come and dine in.”

Thanksgiving meals will be available by delivery, Scates said.

He said meals would be left just outside the front door in order to facilitate contactless delivery.

Scates said volunteers are needed to help package and deliver the meals, which will include turkey, dressing and all the fixings.

Scates said volunteers can visit the club’s Facebook page for more information, or simply show up at the Western Texas College dining room in the Student Center by 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

To order meals for delivery, sign up at the Senior Citizens Center or call 573-8266.
