The Snyder ISD board of trustees is scheduled to name a lone finalist for the superintendent’s position on Tuesday.

Trustees interviewed five candidates during the initial round and two candidates held follow-up interviews with trustees last week.

As part of naming the new superintendent, the board is also expected to accept Superintendent Jim Kirkland’s resignation date to be determined by the new superintendent’s starting date. He had previously resigned effective June 30.

Because there are no contested races, trustees will cancel the May election and are scheduled to vote on a proposed 5-cent increase for elementary school lunches and a 25-cent increase for secondary lunches. If passed, elementary lunches will be $2 per day and secondary lunches $2.25.

The depository contract with Prosperity Bank also will be considered for a two-year extension. The administration is also recommending the board again contract with Terry & King, CPAs for the 2017 audit at a cost not to exceed $23,325.

Trustees also will vote on replacing the flooring in Tiger Gym that sustained water damage with the recommendation the board accept Ponder Company’s bid, which was made through the buy board.

Trustees will also vote on an out-of-state travel request for four students and one teacher to the DECA International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, Calif., as well as textbooks for career technical courses, language other than English and algebraic reasoning.

The board will meet in closed session to hear Kirkland’s recommendations regarding contracts for classroom teachers and other non-administrative professional personnel and new employees.

Action on any contracts will be taken in open session.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the administration building boardroom and is open to the public. A time has been set aside on the agenda for the public to comment on non-agenda items.
