The Snyder ISD board of trustees will meet Tuesday and conduct first interviews, in closed session, with two superintendent candidates.

According to the agenda, the trustees may name a lone finalist after the interviews. However, board president Ralph Ramon said he did not expect a lone finalist to be named because the board may consider calling two or three of the candidates back for a second interview.

Last week, trustees met with three candidates.

Once a lone finalist is named, state law requires the district to wait 21 days before finalizing a contract.

Superintendent Jim Kirkland will retire June 30.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Snyder ISD administration building boardroom and is open to the public.
