The Snyder ISD board of trustees, on Thursday, unanimously approved using the Region 14 Educational Service Center as the search firm for a new superintendent.
Ronnie Kincaid, the center’s executive director, said he would charge the district $3,500 for the search that is expected to draw more than 50 applicants to replace Superintendent Jim Kirkland, who will retire in June.
“We want to facilitate your search,” said Kincaid, adding that a profile must first be determined with input from the board, staff and community.
While not having a specific timeline, Kincaid said if the job opening is posted by Jan. 3, a new superintendent could be selected by mid-March.
Kincaid said he would provide the board with a list of applicants weekly, a point that drew favor from board members, including Lauren Collier.
She said she liked the fact that the board would see a list of all applicants.
Trustee Brad Hinton asked Kincaid if the search would be limited to just those who apply, or if he would recruit candidates.
“The search won’t be dependent on just those who apply,” Kincaid said.
Kincaid and his staff works  with superintendents in the region and assured board members that he would bring them quality applicants.
“I don’t want to hire a jerk that I have to work with,” Kincaid said as he closed his presentation.
Also making a presentation at the meeting was Bob Griggs of Bob Griggs and Associates.
