Snyder voters will decide who will be mayor and the at-large Snyder City Council members on Saturday.

Voting at College on the Square will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. When voting, a person must present the election judge with a state-approved photo ID.

During the early voting period, 493 people cast ballots. That represented 7.97 of the 6,174 people eligible to vote. The city also received two mail-in ballots for Saturday’s election.

Mayoral candidates on the ballot are Tony Wofford, John Gayle, Stephanie Ducheneaux and George Jamison.

The at-large city council candidates are Maria Robinson, Luann Burleson, Ben Martin and Frank Toland.

The top two at-large council candidates will earn a seat on the council.

To be elected mayor, a candidate must receive a majority of the votes (50 percent plus one vote). If no candidate receives a majority, a runoff election between the top two candidates will be held June 17, city officials said.

Results of Saturday’s election will be posted on the Snyder Daily News Facebook page and website after they are verified by city officials.

The council has called a special meeting for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to canvass the election results.
