After 25 rounds, sixth grader Yasmin Thamez earned the first placed trophy after Monday’s Snyder ISD district spelling bee at Worsham Auditorium.
“This is exciting,” Thamez said. “I didn’t expect it. I am happy I won.”
After preparing for weeks, 12 students participated in Monday morning’s competition.
Snyder Primary School Principal Canita Rhodes said she is proud of all the students that participated in the spelling bee.
The runner-up was fourth grader Cannon Morris.
Rhodes said both students will need to prepare for the regional spelling bee, which will be held at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center in March.
Rhodes said only one student will represent Snyder ISD during the competition, but Morris will prepare for the regional bee in case Thamez is unable to participate.
