Man charged with assault, family violence

Jury selection is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday for a Colorado City man who was charged with assault, family violence.
John Berry Jackson, 35, will go on trial in 132nd Judicial District Court for the Nov. 10 third degree felony offense. District Attorney Ben Smith will prosecute the case and Chris Hartman is scheduled to represent Jackson. District Judge Ernie B. Armstrong will preside over the case.
According to court documents, Jackson squeezed the neck of a person with whom he was in a dating relationship. His January indictment stated Jackson was previously indicted for assault, family violence, in Mitchell County in 2011.
