Twelve students to compete for district spelling bee title Monday

Twelve Snyder ISD students will compete Monday for a spot in the next stage of the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee.
The annual district spelling bee will be held at 10 a.m. in Worsham Auditorium featuring the top two finishers in the third through eighth grade spelling bees.
Representing the third grade will be Cohen Pacheco and Lillianna Jaramillo. Fourth grade representatives are Carson Graf and Cannon Morris while Kambry Singh and Edwin Kubena will represent the fifth grade.
Sixth grade students who will compete are Yasmine Thamez and Zoey Ramon while the seventh grade participants are Jewellyssa Salazar and Riley Owen. The eighth grade representatives will be Shad Hodge and Nino Jaramillo.
Monday’s winner will qualify for the regional spelling bee in Lubbock, which will be held in March. The 2019 National Spelling Bee is scheduled for May 29-30 in Washington, D.C.
