Scurry County United Way is preparing to begin its annual fundraising campaign, which will kick off in September. This year’s campaign will mark 66 years that United Way has served the community.

Director Sheila Hale said that this year’s Moving Forward United campaign will support 12 local nonprofit agencies — the Boy Scouts Buffalo Trail Council, Cancer Services Network, Gateway Family Services, the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains, Jumpstart Enrichment of Tomorrow’s Students, Scurry County 4-H, the Scurry County Food Cupboard, the Scurry County Museum, Snyder Christian School, Snyder Community Resource Center, Snyder Volunteer Fire Department and West Texas Children’s Advocacy Center.

United Way has set a goal of raising $130,000 to meet the needs of these agencies, and Hale and volunteers are in the process of planning events and fundraisers to help meet that goal.

Hale said that United Way is currently proceeding with planning for its annual County Fair on the Square, but plans could quickly change if Scurry County’s COVID-19 active cases continue to increase.
